“I used to run for almost an hour – without even stopping…” Of course, that was 10 years ago, now I can only run for 30 minutes with all the stops. Yes, I can accept that because as we age – we easily get tired. However, that does not mean we will get pessimistic and just stay at home getting old watching television. The more we get older, the more our body needs to sweat.
I do not mean going to the gym and go lift weights. Common, we are retirees and veterans. We only need to walk for 15 minutes a day and that is fine.
All right, here is the catch, what are the ways to reduce your cholesterol?
Most of people aging from 40 to 50, we have to face the truth – we need to monitor our meals. Yes, our chance of eating those fatty and mouth-watering, saturated burgers, and fried delicacies are over. It is time to eat the veggies, fruits, and all the food – we hate to eat when we are still toddlers.
Now, I found that TV commercials could sometimes be true. Fast foods are epic…and believe me no one here on earth argues on that. So, how do we turn our backs and mouths away from those habits? Here are practical ways to get in love with veggies and greenies – and totally be from fast food addiction.
- Look at yourself — how old are you? Did you have cholesterol issues in the past? Do you suffer from heart disease? How healthy are you?
- Be green-minded – change your eating habits. Go for green foods to reduce cholesterol. Start eating veggies and fruits trice a week. If you are motivated enough, do it for a month, to a year, and for a lifetime. I know veggies do not taste good, but you have to do it for goodness sake.
- Mixed it up – reinvent and mix meat with vegetables. As much as you can, refrain from using too much oil when frying.
- Get raw – vegetable and fruit salad should be part of your changed diet. Mayo and cheese are good complement for celery and leafy veggies.
- Learn to cook – learning to cook is an added skill for you. It will also prevent you from dialing 758-73-22 or any pizza store nearby.
- Love your body – it is not too late to stop smoking and getting drunk every night. This is one of the smartest ways to reduce your cholesterol, yet the hardest thing to give up. Do not worry; everybody starts at a step – just keep fighting that alcohol and smoking habit.
- Cut down that saltiness – too much (Na) hurts. The unregulated amounts of salt or sodium are one major causes of heart attack. Well, misery loves company – high cholesterol and high sodium intake kills.
Living healthy is a challenge for us. Always remember that life never stops at 50, it should get better and better. It should be longer, happier, stronger, and greater.
